NICA x Tampere Jazz Happening 2023
Four NICA artists present their bands at the Finnish festival
On 2 November 2023, Kira Hummen, Fabian Dudek and Rebekka Salomea and their bands will kick off the International Tampere Jazz Happening in Finland. Janning Trumann closes the festival on 5 November with his new project NOSACRUM.
The artistic director of the festival, Juhamatti Kauppinen, became aware of the four musicians during the concert evening “NICA live special” in Cologne at the beginning of the year.
Instrumentalist, singer and composer Kira Hummen presents her latest band with Valentin Brummer on drums and Karla Lee on vocals and synthesiser. Saxophonist and composer Fabian Dudek will come to Finland together with pianist Felix Hauptmann, Ruth Goller on bass and drummer Leif Berger. Rebekka Salomea presents her band SALOMEA and trombonist Janning Trumann plays with Florian Zwissler on electronics and Berlin drummer Oli Steidle.
The Tampere Jazz Happening was first held in 1982 and has been part of the city’s cultural events calendar in southern Finland every year since. The festival has been organised since 1990 by Tampere Music Festivals, which is part of the cultural department of the city of Tampere.
NICA artist development is cooperating with the international festival for the first time this year.
