At the award ceremony of the third edition of the German Jazz Prize 2023, trumpeter and composer Heidi Bayer - NICA artist since 2020 - won in the category “Composition of the Year” for the piece “Cookie Dough” from her album and eponymous project KORSH, released in April 2022.
The prize for “Festival of the Year” was given to Cologne Jazzweek. Delighted for the KJK (Kölner Jazzkonferenz) is, among others, managing director Janning Trumann, also NICA artist since 2020.
Special congratulations also go to other award winners from Cologne, such as the Loft, which received the award for “Venue of the Year” for the second time. The versatile multi-instrumentalist Matthias Schriefl, who frequently graces the stages of the Stadtgarten, was also able to bring the “Brass Player of the Year” award back to Cologne. And the prize for the best “Album Vocal” went to the trio LUAH.
