Album release: SALOMEA: Good Life

SALOMEA’s new Album “Good Life” to be released on October 18th
Following the release of the three singles “Twirl Up”, “Obsessing” and “Layla Tov”, SALOMEA have released their third album “Good Life” on the Papercup Records/Rough Trade label. Four years after “Bathing In Flowers”, the new album by the versatile multi-genre band was eagerly awaited.
“Good Life” is an album that has emerged from a deep confrontation with grief and death and translates these themes into a plea for optimism, for the importance of love and hope for the future in poignant melodies and multi-faceted rhythms that demand movement. The band leader’s lyrics and melodies are characterized by the conviction and truth that through suffering, happiness and beauty can arise.
The band’s music combines the lyricism of German-American singer and composer Rebekka Salomea Ziegler with smooth, contemporary jazz production to create an enticing, multi-layered soundscape. Former NICA artist and drummer Leif Berger joins Yannis Anft on keyboards and Oliver Lutz on bass to form the rhythm section of the expressive band, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year with the release of the new album.

“Good Life” showcases the colorful range of Ziegler, who played the leading role in writing and producing the album. With the broad diversity of her formative influences, which Ziegler knows how to emphasize with loving clarity, SALOMEA creates a sound world that is both new and familiar, inviting listeners to explore.
An album with lyrics that break with hetero-normative narratives, focusing on the celebration of femmes* and mothers and an urgent appeal to listen and exchange. The immediate stories of diasporic displacement and separation, grief and finding solace, and the contrast of courage, kindness and hope inherent in the album make “Good Life” an extraordinary experience. An album as a place, a sound and a feeling of belonging and freedom.
